The San Pedro River rises in Riñihue Lake. Its origin is glacier, with an approximate length of 77 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide, is located about 100 kilometers northeast of the city of Valdivia. On its journey through the central valley, it is fed by numerous small rivers and estuaries, including the Quinchilca River. Several urban centers are located on its shores, being the city of Los Lagos the most important.
A few miles downstream are the riverside communities of Purey, Antinhue, Pishuinco and Huellelhue. From this point, now with the calmer waters, the river San Pedro, enters majestically, taking the name Rio Calle-Calle (known by our ancestors as Rio Ainilelfü), to reach the city of Valdivia; later to the coastal town of Niebla, where it flows into the Pacific Ocean, it runs under the name of the Valdivia River.
It is a river in the province of Valdivia in southern Chile.
San Pedro is one of the most important rivers for sport fishing in the Los Lagos region. Its long journey through the east-west province of Valdivia makes it a river that offers a significant number of attractive alternatives to develop sport fishing. The sapphire blue of its waters jealously guards an important amount of rainbow trout (rainbow trout) and brown or brown trout, which find refuge in this generous torrent.
