The MISS - Museum of Image and Sound of Santos, an equipment of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture and managed by COCINE - Coordination of Cinemas, founded in 1996, is currently undergoing a complete and profound reformulation, in conceptual, physical, services. and programming. The current occupation proposal proposes that the entity has as its concern and foundation, the rescue, the protection, the cataloging and the perpetuation of the cultural and artistic life of our city and region, using the precepts of the multimedia language for such. The supports are the most varied: the paper (posters-leaflet-clippings-current and period publications), the moving image (cinema, tv, video, institutional) and static (photo-chrome-slides), the sound (testimonials). -music recordings- oral memory). And all this on two platforms: the real, in its physical space, and the virtual, within the new molds of cyber museum.

The collection is currently in the process of screening and cataloging and will be divided into 5 areas of concentration: video library (with about 5,000 titles between vhs, dvd, 35-16-9,5-8 mm film), and good part of them can be rented), library (with approximately 15,000 titles between discs, roll recordings, k7 and digital media), objects (cameras, camcorders, 35-16 and 8mm projectors, videos, stereos, radios, tvs, gramophones), documentation (paper, photo. periodicals, programs, posters, booklet, texts) and collections (artistic and cultural events, characters and personalities, where the material is divided into the 4 previous concentration areas).

The programming involves the Cinema no Miss projects, where the monthly programming follows a theme, Retro Session with world film classics screened on film, Opera no Miss, with titles of the genre produced especially for cinema, Music in Miss where flirting with the idea of silent cinema with multimedia projections created from the sound universe performed live. Soon new activities will be incorporated into the programming grid such as exhibitions, lectures, courses and workshops, recording of testimonials and oral memory records. Already in your cyber space, exhibitions, radio shows, radio soap operas, tv shows. In addition, the MISS team is also responsible for the Street Cinema project, which currently prioritizes Brazilian cinema.

In its physical space, MISS has a digital recording studio for live recordings as well as soundtrack for shows, exhibit space, the 75-seat “Chico Botelho” auditorium with 75-inch screen, sound system and projection.
