Masterpiece of the architects Dientzenhofer, father and son, is one of the most beautiful baroque churches in central Europe and without a doubt the maximum expression of the Baroque in Bohemia. Its monumental dome, its bell and its undulating facade stand out on the roofs of Malá Strana.
Praça da Malá Strana was already the heart of the neighborhood during the Middle Ages, a place where two churches and a very popular market were found. The current church was built between 1673 and 1752 near a Jesuit college set up in full Contra reform in the Czech country.
The interiors surprise by the spectacular richness of its decorations. The interior composition attracts the glances to the great altar and to the lateral altars, which were planned by K.I. Dientzenhofer. In the vault, the imposing fresh trompe of J. L Kracker represents the Apotheosis of St. Nicholas (for its 1500 m2 is considered one of the largest in Europe). The best artists of the time completed the decoration of the church, among which we can mention I. F. Platzer or Karel Škréta, authors of the cruise statues and the cycle of paintings on the Passion of Christ visible in the gallery, respectively.
The history of the church is also linked with Mozart, who touched the monumental organ of the church of St. Nicholas several times during his stays in Prague. A few days after his death in December 1791 a requesting mass was organized in his honor in response to the immense sadness of the multitude he had witnessed.

March-October: every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
November-February: every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
24 and 31 of December: between 9am - 2pm.
