Also known as the “Chilote Museum”, the Chiloe Islands Blue Museum houses a complete collection of objects and archives that document Chiloé's history, culture and traditions.



It was founded by the Salesian priest Audelio Bórquez Canobra, who for years has done an important job of collecting heritage objects. In 1976, the priest donated the collections to Dibam, creating this museum, located within a cultural-tourist center.



The museum's permanent exhibition is divided into two fundamental topics for Chiloé's culture: the kitchen stove, representing daily life, and the circular mission that reflects Chilote spirituality.

By plane

The fastest route is to reach the city of Puerto Montt on a nonstop trip lasting 1 hour and 40 minutes on one of 4 daily frequencies.



From Puerto Montt the trip to Ancud must be by land by car or bus, the first from Puerto Montt to Pargua (60 km) which is accessed by the Pan American South Highway to take the ferry that crosses the Chacao Channel to the Island. . This trip takes about 25 minutes and for the second section, from Chacao to Ancud (27 km), you should take Route 5 South to the west.



Bus

The trip takes 16 hours from Santiago to Ancud.



By car

To get to Puerto Montt from Santiago, you must take Route 5 South. The trip takes approximately 13 hours. Then the trip is divided into two sections: the first from Puerto Montt to Pargua, where the ferry is taken to cross the Chacao Channel to the island, the trip takes about 25 minutes. The second section, from Chacao to Ancud (27 km), is on Route 5 South to the west.
